The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who suppress the truth through their unrighteousness.
What can be known about God is evident to them because God has made it clear.
Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen and understood from what has been made, so people are without excuse.
Although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him. Instead, their thoughts became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools.
They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles.
Therefore, God gave them over to their sinful desires, leading to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
As a result, God handed them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for those contrary to nature.
In the same way, men abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and, in themselves, received the penalty for their error.
Since they did not find it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind to do what ought not to be done.
They are filled with every kind of wickedness—evil, greed, and malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are gossips, slanderers, godless, arrogant, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to their parents, and without understanding, loyalty, natural affection, or mercy.
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these things but also approve of those who practice them.
